4000 US troops arrive in Poland as tension with Russia grow
Around 4000 American soldiers have rolled into Poland on Thursday as a deterrent against Russia. This move from America on polish soil is clearly seen as a show of force to Vladimir Putin’s Russia. Tensions between America and Russia is high due to allegation of Kremlin interfering in the recently held US election.
"This is the fulfilment of a dream," said Michal Baranowski, director of the German Marshall Fund think tank in Warsaw. "And this is not just a symbolic presence but one with a real capability."
The deployment includes more than 80 main battle tanks and hundreds of armored vehicles to deter any Russian aggression against Poland.
"We interpret this as a threat to us and as actions that endanger our interests and our security," President Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday in response to the buildup of American military presence near its border.
